Mitral Valve Disease remains one of the breed’s most significant concerns. While no breeder can guarantee that a Cavalier will never develop heart disease, we believe responsible breeding can help support later onset, reduced severity, and greater longevity.
Our approach includes appropriate health testing, careful consideration of family history and genetics, heart and patella screening, DNA testing for known inherited conditions, and thoughtful selection of breeding pairs.
Our foundation Cavaliers, Lucy and Percy, have also inspired our interest in emerging NEBL3 research and its potential relationship to cardiac resilience. We approach this area with cautious optimism, recognising that research is still developing and that no single gene determines the future health of a dog.

Our Cavaliers are raised on a species-appropriate, animal-based diet centred on fresh, whole foods. We prefer raw feeding where suitable, with gently cooked options when needed, and place particular value on high-quality animal protein, natural fats, hydration, and nutrient-dense whole-food ingredients.
This philosophy is intended to support healthy development, digestion, skin, coat, joints, immune function, and overall vitality. It is also part of our broader commitment to reducing unnecessary dietary inflammation and giving every puppy the strongest possible foundation.
We share our experience as education rather than prescription and encourage every family to make informed decisions in partnership with a veterinarian who understands their individual dog’s needs.
