Colourful Bartholomew is our second 100% Nigerian Dwarf buck and an exciting future sire for the AeonHeart breeding program.

Selected as an outcross option for the next generation, Bartholomew brings together First Fleet, Castle Rock, Kirrasumm Kidz and Kilmeny genetics, with a pedigree strongly influenced by imported American dairy lines.

He is intended to play an important role in future breeding plans, particularly as a potential sire over suitable descendants of our Angelina and Audrey families.

Sire – Yinfire Beth’s Boy Mason

Bartholomew’s sire, Yinfire Beth’s Boy Mason, is by Kirrasumm Kidz Jim Beam and out of First Fleet Beth AI.

Jim Beam is a son of First Fleet Corelli, adding another strong First Fleet branch through Bartholomew’s paternal side.

On the other side of his sire’s pedigree, First Fleet Beth brings in Castle Rock Harvest Moon, one of the most significant dairy influences in Bartholomew’s ancestry.

Castle Rock Harvest Moon is a particularly exciting ancestor to have behind a future herd sire.

He came from a highly accomplished dairy family and was known for producing daughters with strong general appearance and desirable mammary traits, including rear udder height, medial support, teat placement, udder texture and attachment.

His dam, SGCH/MCH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon, was a highly successful doe with multiple championship and Best Udder achievements, as well as strong milk-test performance.

This gives Bartholomew a valuable connection to a family with proven dairy and mammary quality.

Dam – Kilmeny Belle Noire

Bartholomew’s dam, Kilmeny Belle Noire, provides another strong branch of First Fleet genetics.

She is by Kilmeny Noah, a son of First Fleet Lear and First Fleet Nellie.

Her dam is First Fleet Kate, by First Fleet Baudin and out of First Fleet Molly.

This gives Bartholomew a strong concentration of First Fleet breeding throughout both sides of his pedigree while bringing together several different family branches.

First Fleet Baudin

Through First Fleet Kate, Bartholomew carries First Fleet Baudin, another important sire from imported American Nigerian Dwarf genetics.

Baudin’s ancestry includes strong Castle Rock dairy families with animals known for mammary quality, conformation and show success.

His influence has also been seen in Australian Nigerian Dwarf breeding through daughters recognised for udder quality, dairy character and championship results.

First Fleet Molly

Bartholomew’s maternal pedigree also includes First Fleet Molly, another particularly valuable doe behind a prospective herd sire.

Molly is a daughter of the successful First Fleet Pan × First Fleet Mary combination and comes from an important First Fleet foundation family.

She is known for dairy structure, body capacity and a strong productive udder, adding another valuable female line behind Bartholomew.

Why We Chose Bartholomew

As a future herd sire, one of the things we particularly value is the female depth in Bartholomew’s pedigree.

A buck cannot demonstrate mammary quality himself, so the quality of the does behind him and the daughters produced by his sire lines are especially important.

Our Angelina and Audrey family carries a concentration of First Fleet Apollo, together with Dill’s, NC PromisedLand and Castle Rock genetics.

Bartholomew brings a different route through the First Fleet population, including Corelli, Beth, Lear, Nellie, Baudin, Kate and Molly, while still retaining valuable Castle Rock influence through Harvest Moon.

This makes him a very interesting future mating option for carefully selected descendants of Angelina and Audrey.

Our intention is not simply to increase Nigerian Dwarf percentage, but to use complementary pedigrees to continue improving the qualities we are breeding toward.
